Brecknock Consulting were engaged to develop art opportunities, curate and project management concepts for the new Five-Star Green-Star building in the Melbourne Docklands. The resulting series of sculptural forms, by artist Adrian Page, bridge between the public realm and internal building spaces and contribute a strong day/night feature to the development.
Artist Statement:
This sculpture indicates similarities between the structural qualities of contemporary architecture (column's vertical ribs) and things of nature (cacti vertical ribs), where the structure is an integral part of the surface's pattern and purpose. Both architecture and nature develop a patina that speaks silently of environmental elements. The column's numerals also speak silently as coded text, of futuristic architecture - hidden and revealed.
