Creative Maribyrnong – “On the Edge” Public Art Policy
Client: Maribyrnong City Council, VIC, 2009-2010
Brecknock Consulting were engaged by Maribyrnong City Council to research trends, consult with stakeholders and to develop key principles and directions for the planning and implementation of public art in the City. The key focus of the study was on the redevelopment of Footscray and the proposed Central Activity District as identified in Melbourne @ 5million plan. The resulting “On the Edge” policy focuses on public art as a ‘change agent’ generating place activation through temporary artworks and creative interventions in urban spaces.
