Victoria Park

The City of Yarra commissioned a revitalisation plan for Victoria Park, the former league football ground and home of the Collingwood Football Club for over 110 years. Brecknock Consulting were engaged by Council to undertake an assessment of the historic Victoria Park and to establish a range of interpretive artworks and prepare an Art Opportunities Report and briefs for future public art commissions. It was envisaged that artworks commissioned for Victoria Park will combine creative and interpretive dimensions. Reflecting the use of the site as a community sporting venue while also resonating with contemporary art practice, the artworks will be both innovative and engaging. It was intended that the artworks will highlight the history of the site, activate spaces artistically, incorporate community engagement, and complement the Victoria Park Master Plan.
